An Exciting Week in Montreal and Ottawa

Every once in a while, a week in a writer's life becomes really exciting. This Thursday, May 2, I will be launching Quill of the Dove as part of the world-renowned Blue Metropolis Festival. I am honoured to be joined at the launch at Paragraphe Bookstore in downtown Montreal by authors Michael Springate, Arianna Dagnino and Rita Pomade and poets Raymond Filip, Nicola Vulpe and Giovanna Riccio.

Also on Thursday, I will be participating in my publisher's annual advisory board meeting. It has been a stellar year for Guernica editions, including 40th-anniversary celebrations in Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa and the creation of the Guernica Prize for the best novel fiction submission. Kevin Wilson, the winner of the 2018 Guernica Prize, will see his manuscript, An Idea about My Dead Uncle, published this September by Guernica. The submissions period for the second year of the Guernica Prize closes this Tuesday, April 30.

By consistently publishing 35 books a year, aggressively selling translation and film rights for their authors' books and this year holding group book launches in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa and Halifax, Guernica Editions is emerging as one of Canada's most important publishers.

Next Sunday, I have the immense pleasure of launching Quill of the Dove in Ottawa at the new event space of the Vimy Brewing Company.

You can check out all of these literary appearances on my website at https://www.ianthomasshaw.com/events

Finally, there is even bigger news but I have been asked to keep it under my hat for the time being. Stay tuned for an update on that :)

All the Best,

Ian Thomas Shaw
