Last night, I had the honour to emcee the second annual Frank Hegyi Award ceremony in Ottawa. There was a great turnout of local writers and book lovers and a wonderful shortlist of authors. This year's ceremony was held on the 18th floor of KPMG's Ottawa offices at 150 Elgin Street. The food, wine and venue were fantastic!
The winner of the award this year was Sharon Butala (photo on left) for Where I Live Now, published by Simon and Schuster. The other finalists were:
David Leach for Chasing Utopia: The Future of the Kibbutz in a Divided Israel.
Pauline Dakin for for Run, Hide Repeat: A Memoir of a Fugitive Childhood (Penguin Random House Canada)
Chris Turner for The Patch: The People, Pipelines, and Politics of the Oil Sands (Simon & Schuster)
And Alexandra Risen for Unearthed: A Memoir (Penguin Random House Canada)
